To ensure that Android Auto users have a consistent and reliable experience, Google requires that all head units (HUs) that are certified for Android Auto meet a set of specific requirements. This guide provides the actions needed to certify a head unit (HU) for Android Auto. The guide is divided into the following sections:

Google is committed to continually improving the quality and user experience of Android Auto. As part of this commitment, Google regularly releases new versions of the AAP Receiver Library, which contain new features and improvements that make Android Auto even more powerful and versatile.To ensure that users receive the latest Android Auto features and the best possible experience, Google strongly recommends that partners upgrade to the latest Receiver Library version no later than 12 months after the release becomes available. In addition, partners MUST NOT use unsupported Receiver Library versions beyond their end-of-life (EOL) date at GreenLight submission unless they receive written approval from Google.By upgrading to the latest Receiver Library version, partners can help to ensure that their users have a reliable experience with Android Auto.The table below lists the Receiver Library versions that Google currently supports:
Determine the PDK components Starting PDK 4.2, Google continues to release new versions of the different PDK components (PCTS, HUIG, Protocol specification, GALMonitor) in conjunction with the latest Receiver Library. In addition, Google will start maintaining older PDK resources, when applicable, to be used by partners who are certifying HUs that are integrated with legacy Receiver Library versions.This means that the PDK components are now compatible with Google supported Receiver Library versions, ensuring that partners can always use compliant tools and documentation to certify their head units (HUs).To ensure compliance and smooth certification, partners must ensure that the versions of the PDK components are compatible with the Receiver Library version of the head unit undergoing certification.
